Danbury Animal Welfare Society makes a difference in the lives of animals in need. We keep animals safe, happy and sheltered as they wait to be adopted into loving, forever homes. We promote responsible pet guardianship and the humane treatment of animals, and work toward ending animal overpopulation through education and a variety of programs. We take pride in the work we do - making a difference, one animal at a time.

Thank You Community!!!!!
We have a brand new beautiful sign in front of our shelter now!
Doug Rofrano, owner of Signs Now of Bethel, CT and a DAWS volunteer, donated the sign to the shelter. Joe Andrews, a professional sign installer donated his time and service to get the sign in place. The sign was installed on Friday, March 27, 2009.
In the photo from left to right: Doug Rofrano, owner of Signs Now of Bethel, CT , Joe Andrews, sign installer, Lynn Alexander, Volunteer, Gabe the dog:), Veronica Bickelhaupt, Shelter Manager, and Christine Benezra, President of DAWS.
The photo was taken by Ed Dzubak.
Since this photo was taken, we were also lucky enough to have beautiful landscaping and masonry added surrounding the new sign, all also donated by local business owners. Many thanks also go to D. Seiban of Gault Bethel Masonry and Paul Caso of PSC Landscaping (Paul is also the adopter of (2) DAWS dogs!:) An updated photo will be coming soon.
It's all beautiful!! We appreciate the generousity of our community partners.
Many thanks to Lynn Alexander, Bob Yost and Cathy Lent for being the DAWS focal points for the sign/landscaping project!
The photos from the Puppy Love Ball are now available for viewing and purchase at http://www.picturesbypaula.com/ All proceeds from photos purchased benefit DAWS.
