Hi Donna,
Its going well. Sophie is a great dog, loves to be with me or John. She
isn't fond of the crate but she is doing better with that. Not sure she
will ever LOVE it.
She is fine with the cats. They aren't buddy's but she will sit right
next to them while I feed them and they are the ones hissing. They are
ok together so that's all that matters.
She is a great dog! She sleeps out all night with us and is
out with John when he's home during the day. She's a pretty calm dog
too believe it or not. She just wants to be with people. If I walk out
of the house, she gets a little nuts.
We love her!

ROCCO (formerly Cocoa)
Mark and I wanted to thank you for once again making it possible to adopt a wonderful dog. Rocco [the former Cocoa] has settled in beautifully and has become best pals with Jack [formally Bear adopted 8/2009]. Here are our boys romping about their yard [on day 1]. They are sound asleep on the sofa together as I write this; on day 2. I believe we made another perfect choice. Thank you for making it all possible.
Kind regards,
Heidi

MOLLY
Hi everyone, Molly is doing great and so very happy. Molly is a wild woman and a wreck-a-house. But that's ok she's having so much fun and I love her to death. We go out for a ride everyday in the car and she just loves it. She's slowly getting better with Wayne, eats out of his hand now. It's going to take time and I have all the time in the world for her.
Update: Hi everyone, here's some more pics of molly today. Molly still won't go in the pool, but has so much fun running around. She loves the car so much that when i get ready to go out she wants to come. Molly's life is very peaceful now and she loves it..... Jayne
Hope all is well there,
Jayne

ANNIE and WHISKEY
Sorry it took so long to reply but my daughter got married this past weekend in Lake Placid NY and we also were on vacation in VA (with Whiskey and Annie). They had a great time.
The girls are doing great. They are just about through their big "chewing up everything stage. " We are enjoying them very much! They are like children to Rich and I.
Feel free to email anytime I enjoy hearing from Daw's. It is a great organization.
Have a nice day.
Thank you again- JoAnn, Rich and the girls!

CAMILLA
Took the pups hiking and swimming last Sunday, everyone is doing well. Camilla is the Energizer Bunny on walks, and is trying hard to rid the neighborhood of squirrels (the tug-of-war we had over one that had been run over was not pretty) She also can't get enough of riding in cars, any open car door she takes as an invitation, sometimes I literally have to pull her out when we get home. Hope she's not trying to hitch a ride back to Ohio. We're planning to join the Sept. walk, see you there. Best -Annette

LUKE & ROXIE
I just wanted to sent you a video of Luke to see how well he is doing health wise! We think he has lost a few pounds and he's so much lighter on his feet. We are very proud of him.

PUPPY JERSEY
Puppy Jersey is doing wonderfully and we are so glad that we found him.
He gets to the dog park at Taylor farms in Norwalk almost every morning, is very social and has lots of friends and playmates, (everybody knows Jersey).
He has been listening very well, although some times he can be pretty stubborn, especially when he has his nose to the ground and is on the scent.
He knows the name of some of his toys and can play fetch but he still has some of that puppy awkwardness which is adorable. He can get frustrated when he can't keep up with the other dogs and will howl that hound dog howl. It's very sweet.
His leg has been very good although if it gets a good bump while playing he may still yelp but for the most part it hasn't slowed him down at all.
He's one of the family....loves everbody and we all love him. We can't thank you and the folks at DAWS enough as we're sure he's turning out so well in large part because of all the love and care he got while with you.
All the best
Vicky, Don, Ryan and Jersey

HOLLY
Dear Theresa,
Thank you for checking in on us, we are very pleased with our new addition to our family, we have kept her name given to her at your shelter (Holly). It will be two weeks tomorrow that we have had her and she seems to be settling in very well, she seems very comfortable, it really did not seem to take more than a couple of days for her to adjust to our home. Holly walks well on the leash, she has learned sit and come, she is still working on wait.
We are still working on house training, every day we are making progress, she does keep her crate clean, and poops outside now and actually yesterday she did not have one piddle accident, so hopefully today will be more of the same.
My husband's brother came to visit yesterday with his two dogs, a 2-year old lab-mix and a 10-year old springer spaniel (he always travels with his dogs). After 5 minutes or so of dog greetings; Holly was ready to play with them, she was actually very playful with them. We couldn't be more pleased with our Holly, we thank you and look forward to keeping in touch with you.
I have attached a picture of Holly her first week at home.

DOZER (formerly Astro)
Attached is a picture of “Dozer” we thought Astro was too close to "no" so we changed his name to Dozer. He has been a very good puppy. He sits, almost walks without pulling and has only had a few accidents in the house. We are crate training him and when he is tired that’s where he goes. He loves to dig and seems to find bugs outside. His first vet visit is tomorrow and we took him for a few car rides so he doesn’t equate car rides with the vet. I think he is the cutest puppy ever and he seems to grow everyday. My husband is thrilled. He has wanted a dog since he was 6 (he is now 52) and he is the happiest person around. Thanks for caring and also thank his foster parent. They did a wonderful job with him and he has been very smart and easy to train.

PENNY and NIKE (formerly LADY)
Hi Kim My husband and I were just talking about making sure we send pics of the puppies to you I finally downloaded the pics from my camera onto my computer and uploaded some to our facebook acct so my daughter who is studying abroad can see her new "sisters". We kept the name of Penny but Lady is now Nike (Goddess of Victory).
They are doing great! they've really made this their home They are crate training quickly and have made it through the night just fine from day one. They have an expansive backyard with my in-laws and our yards connected and fenced. So, they find alot of things to get into. So much for my gardens this year! they love to roll in the hastas and have flatted them quite well.
Our 1 year old cat loves to come downstairs to "play" with the dogs although he prefers the energy level of Penny and not so much of Nike. The cat holds his own and retreats when fed up. They have had their first vet checkup 2 weeks ago and we look forward to them being able to camp with us after their rabies vaccines. Nike is now 20lbs and Penny is 18lbs. The vet says they will probably be more than your estimate of 80-85lbs, but we'll have to see when they are done growing. At 2-3 lbs per week, one can only tell when they'll stop LOL! We'll keep you posted on their progress Tori is loving her new puppies!!

COOPER (formerly JASPER)
Hi Kim,
Cooper (a/k/a Jasper) is doing very well. We are extremely happy with our decision to adopt him. The first 2 nights were sleepless, but by day 3, we had him sleeping thru the night. We moved his crate upstairs into Zachary’s room so Cooper doesn’t feel alone anymore. Thank God. The crate training was pretty easy. He even goes in his crate when the door is open to take a nap. The potty training is going well. Some days better than others, but overall a good experience. This past Monday, he had the next series of shots and my vet said he was in great health. He weighs 13.5 lbs already. Growing fast. In three weeks we go for the next series of shots.
Thank you again for letting us have this opportunity to add him into our lives. We are truly blessed to have him as part of our family. We really love the little guy.
Enjoy your summer.
Kim, David & Zachary (and Cooper too.)

BENSON (formerly WILSON)
Benson is doing GREAT! He is definitely a pit/hound mix. The nose is always on the ground sniffing away, and he gets the pit zoomies all the time! He just finished the Level 2 obedience class at Dog Gone Smart last week. He was the best in class (I feel like such a mom), and the trainer suggested enrolling him in agility class. So we're going to start in September! He knows a lot of commands, and some silly tricks like crawling, playing dead, and sitting pretty. He's so smart.
Ben has made lots of puppy friends. He enjoys wrestling and running around with his basset and dachshund "cousins." He knows how to adjust his play level to the pup he's with. Benson has really become a little social butterfly. He also has become the mascot of my kickball team. He loves getting out to meet new people and pups. I feel very lucky to have scooped this little guy up.

SIENNA
Hi Kim,
Puppy Alice's new name is Sienna. She is amazing and charms everyone that she meets. We had a party memorial weekend and everyone wanted to bring her home.
Her crate training is going really well, we crate her in our room and she is sleeping through the night. We have started to take her on short walks and have been teaching her the drop it, leave it and sit commands.
Our cat Coffee also has accepted her and they have slowly become used to each other. Coffee is now at the point where he will play with Sienna.
She has had a couple of play dates with my family dogs Heidi a Jack Russell and Max a white shepherd. Dutch, a German short-haired pointer, although large was a gentle giant with her.
We love her and are so happy that DAWS gives animals the chance they deserve.
Thanks for following up, we will keep you posted on all her adventures.

DYLAN
Thank you for your email. Dylan has been a fabulous dog since the moment we brought him home. It turns out that he was very much trained and house broken before we got him. He went to the vets for a tip to toe exam within his first week with us. He was been given his shots and is in excellent health. We also have licensed him. After his first month we gave him his heart worm medication and also his flee and tick ointment. Dylan is also use to sleeping in his crate but we let him choose now. Dylan is fabulous with people and children. He will give male dogs a hard time from time to time. Both of us love him to death! We have been blessed with a tremendously affectionate, good tempered and very handsome beagle.
We are indescribably happy!
Our warmest regards and thanks,
Mark and Barbara
DASH
Dash is doing great. About a month ago he got pink eye and had to be on medication, but other than that he has been healthy and happy. He is such a momma's boy and follows me everywhere. Now that the weather is warm we've been getting out and doing a lot more things outdoors. Dash is everyone's favorite at the local dog park and he gets a lot of attention everywhere he goes. We recently completed a 6 week obedience class. Dash just graduated yesterday and I was so proud!
I hope all is well over at DAWS!
Keep up the good work!

STELLA
We adopted SATO Stella in January. You'll be happy to know that she has completely adjusted to her new surroundings. She completed obedience training last week. She's a smarty and was definitely the star of the class. She now knows quite a few commands. As you will see in the attached pictures, she and her new brother get along great. He's happy to have and equally energetic playmate. We took her for a checkup and booster shots in February and the vet said she is the picture of health. Thanks for taking such good care of her until we found her!

McGREGOR
First and foremost, thank you and all the volunteers at DAWS for blessing our family with a wonderful dog like McGregor. Ever since he stepped through our door for the first time, he's been a bundle of happiness and energy. He's the perfect dog to go to when you're feeling sad or blue because he can perk you right up in a second (after that he'll request a game outside). He is also very gentle and loving, especially at night when all of his energy has been used up playing. He loves to saddle up right next to you while reading, watching TV or even sleeping and put his head in your lap. He's the perfect dog for a family that requires playing and relaxing, and he's the perfect dog for us. We owe it all to you for giving us such a wonderful dog. We hope you can come see McGregor sometime for yourself!
Thanks again,
Kevin

HANK
To Everyone @ DAWS:
I wanted to give you all an update on HANK! He is doing great! He loves to chew on his rope and play fetch with tennis balls. He loves to snuggle on the couch, belly-rubs, and to be by our side wherever my husband and I are in the house. Most importantly, he loves his sister Sally. They get along great and love their daily walks together. He has been to our vet recently and his health is perfect. No more cough and his ears are much better!
We can't thank you enough for taking such great care of Hank. We are so happy that we are his forever home and can give him the best life possible. Thank you for everything you all do, its so wonderful to see how much you do for the welfare of these animals.
We will be by soon to visit so everyone can see Hank again as we know he has touched many hearts at DAWS.
Thanks Again,
Katie & Bill

HAPPY
To all my friends at DAWS and beyond:
Happy doing great and is always smiling now! He is enjoying all the hiking and swimming that he can and he went to the beach for his first ocean swim last weekend and loved it! He even tried to catch some fish and dove under to get them. He has now hiked 2 parts of the Appalachian Trail with his sisters (dogs) and loved the adventure. For Easter Happy went for his first stay away from home to his Grandparents house in Boston. He was great in the car and loved spending time with the extended family. He even found an egg during the easter egg hunt and ran around with it in his mouth, he was very proud!
Happy likes to be everywhere that I am, he is very loyal and is always close by, even when hiking. He is off leash 90% of the time and he greets fellow hikers nicely and even lets them give him a pat, and then moves on. He jumps in any water and likes to dig in the sand as I found out at the beach. After a long day Happy loves to cuddle and likes to lay right on top of me. He gives kisses, loves belly rubs and has learned to roll over to get them. I can lay down in his bed with him and cuddle him and I grab his face and give him kisses with no issue.
Happy is protective of his bed with those he does not know and is sensitive to being pulled by his collar. I think he is saying "hey, why pull me when I know all of my commands and listen so well" I have been working with him to de-sensitize him around the collar and I can now grab him and hold him by his collar, but we're still working on the pulling.
I believe that Happy is really Happy! He is so fun to be around and is a smiling machine! He loves to play and has a couple of toys which he carrys around all the time. He is also a great watch dog and barks and howls!!!
I love him so much, he's my little boy!!
Thanks from the both of us!!!

MOLLY
Hello, This is Dara. We were there a few weeks ago, and adopted Molly. We just wanted to let you know that Molly is doing wonderful. She is very happy in her new home. She gets to go on lots of long walks. She's hiked up Sleeping Giant mountain, and has taken long walks on the bike path while the boys ride their bikes. She absolutely loves going to my mother's house (who has a nice fenced in yard and two small dogs) to run in the yard and play with her buddies (my mom's two dogs :) )
She also is enjoying snuggling with us at night. She's so playful and loving, and we just love her so much here. She has brought lots of happiness into this house, and we all absolutely love her. She is very happy here. She's been doing very well in all other respects (eating, health, behavior) also. Thanks so much for introducing us to Molly. I attached two pictures of Molly (both of which are with my son Jason). One is a picture of her on one of our walks, and the other is a picture of her and Jason who fell asleep together....it is so cute! Thanks again!

Kinley, now named Molly, is doing great. She is over her kennel cough, and
is getting along great with her sister pup Nani. She is eating well, and is starting to gain a little weight. She's also been to our vet for a check up.
She is a joy! We are so happy to have found her.

LEO (A.K.A. DOLLAR)
Here are some photos of our dear puppy Leo (formerly "Dollar"). He has
been a wonderful addition to our family. We are amazed at our good fortune that our first ever dog is such a perfect fit, and It seems like he was custom made just for us!
At home, Leo learned the electric fence very quickly, knows the boundaries and loves to run in our big yard, especially after his walk when the leash comes off. He's now making friends with other dogs in the neighborhood and has even had a couple of doggie play dates.
Everyone who meets him remarks on his handsome looks and asks what kind of dog he is. We say "he's the best of all his breeds" and he really is the perfect combination of boxer/hound/beagle.
Keep up the great work at DAWS. Thanks to all of you for making another successful animal rescue and adoption.
Sincerely,
Julia and John

ANGEL (A.K.A. MAGGIE)
Maggie's still doing great! I've attached a pictures of the "kids" for you guys. They are definitely quite a pair!!! She's gotten much more comfortable at home...and she loves to get into the laundry and steal all our socks!! We're working on that. We chalk it up to "Lab" puppy behavior - everything in the mouth - and she's definitely a mad chewer! I've been trying to take her on jogs several times a week because her energy level is amazing and it seems to help with the chewing (which we think she does when she gets bored). Even after 5 miles, she still not tired!! Our little Energizer Bunny....if nothing else, she's gonna get me in great shape, I guess!!
Otherwise, everything is good and she's a wonderful, happy little dog. Thank you all again so much for everything you've done and all the support you provide after the fact. It really does show how dedicated you all are the welfare of these animals!!

BUSTER (A.K.A. BUZZY)
Wanted to attach a picture of our buddy Buster (we call him Buzzy now). Buzzy is loving it in our household and has settled in with our family. He loves his tennis balls.
He is looking a little guilty in this picture as he knows he is not supposed to be on the couch but he thought he could get away with it. we will be speaking to him when we get home. our au pair snapped this picture.
He has calmed down quite a bit since he was at the shelter. He is an extremely loving dog and loves to run. Luckily we have plenty of yard for him to run.
Thanks again.

SPOTS (A.K.A. J.J.)
THANK YOU for my bundle of joy J.J! I had waited a very long time to be a pet owner and as soon as I convinced my mom I was old enough I came in and started looking. It makes me so proud that I can say I rescued something and have adopted it. J.J. is doing great! March will be a year since I've adopted him and he is just the sweetest, caring, most responsive dog I have ever seen. He understands EVERYTHING! He is my bedtime companion (and being a small dog he STILL takes up the entire bed!) Everyone who meets him loves him. For a dog that was in such terrible circumstances it's great to see how nice he is to everyone. Don't get me wrong, he is an awesome guard dog and barks at anything if he feels threatened. Hope all is well and if it's allowed maybe we can stop by for a visit :)
Regards,
Rachel

LUCY
Lucy is doing great! We have been making frequent
trips to the Southbury dog park. Recently I adopted a puppy (Peaches)
from work after we rescued her mother from an abusive home. A few
weeks later Peaches was born along with 7 other healthy puppies. She
is the white pit with the black patch. Nemo (Yellow Lab) and Lucy are best of friends and the three of them get along GREAT. Nemo lost 16
pounds since we got Lucy!!! They spend much of their day running
around outside and Lucy quickly adapted to the electric collar. She is
one of the best dogs we have ever had and has such a big heart. She
was and still is such a mother to Peaches. Two friends of ours adopted pits since meeting Lucy and Peaches realizing that they are not the
dogs the media makes them out to be. We will be by DAWS soon to let
everyone see Lucy again as I know how she touched so many at DAWS!
Here are a few pics of them all together.
Thanks again DAWS team!

BRUTUS (A.K.A. BOOMER)
Boomer is doing great as well. We have heard him bark (finally) but still very little. Never barks in the house, which we are thrilled about! He is a great guard dog too, believe it or not. He has put on some weight and still loves playing with the "big dogs" at the park. He's a little guy but he definitely holds his own! Winter has been a lot of fun as Boomer looooves playing in the snow. Zach and Boomer take naps together all the time! Everyone that meets him, loves him! He is great with all people and children. He is a quick learner too. We have taught him a bunch of tricks; he will do anything for a treat! All around, he is a happy go lucky guy and loves being with people as much as possible. We couldn't have asked for a better dog :) Hope you and everyone at DAWS enjoys them! Thanks for checking in!

MO
Mo is a wonderful little dog. His personality is sweet and as gentle as can be. He loves to cuddle on the couch with me in the evening to watch TV. He just can't seem to get close enough sometimes. LOL. Sebastian just loves his big brother. I walk them together every day that I can. I twist the leashes to make them like a splitter so I can control them better. They are learning to walk as partners now. The boys enjoy the afternoon sun.
Thank you for keeping in touch.
