Lilly is a medium-sized female Shepherd/Staffordshire Terrier mix who is about 5 years old. She likes to go hiking, sleep late, watch birds and play in the yard. Lilly gets a lot of attention at DAWS, but what she really wants is a home to call her own. Lilly needs a home with experienced dog owners. She is currently enrolled in our on-site training program and is an excellent student. She knows how to heel, sit/stay and come on command. She loves the structure and challenges of training.
Pebbles loves making friends! Her gentle nature and infectious personality make it easy to get to know her. Pebbles wants a chance to be your friend and get to know YOU. She’s had an unsteady first few years of her life – let’s change all that! We recommend a yard with a fence to give Pebbles a safe place to play and either an adult home or one with older kids. Pebbles is affectionate and playful and, if you do give her the chance, she will win your ♥!
Update: Pebbles has represented DAWS at several recent offsite events. She enjoys making new friends! She has proven to be gentle and patient while she meets and greets those who pass by.

Tazz is an adorable Puggle mix…whose personality has blossomed since coming to DAWS and now is quite the “social butterfly” in small groups. Sadly, his owner is ill and can no longer care for him. He’s very people-oriented and prefers two-legged to four-legged friends. He’s looking for a quiet adult home (1-2 persons) and someone to share his life with. Chelsey is a sweet girl from Ohio who is seeking a forever home. Chelsey gets nervous around new people and is easily startled by loud noises. Luckily for Chelsey our dedicated volunteers are committed to socializing her and getting her used to unfamiliar sights and sounds.

We recently rescued Lizzy from a local inner city pound where she had been surrendered because her owner no longer had a home.
She is one of the happiest dogs we have ever had and she’s so affectionate and playful. Lizzy would be a terrific addition to most any home with older kids. Want to meet this special girl?
I’m a player and full of energy! I’m eager to learn and want to please my family very much. I do best with female dogs (and would love to have a canine friend in my new family) and homes with kids 16+. I do know a few commands…”sit, stay”…and I bet I can do more! A fenced-in yard would give me an excellent place to get the exercise I need…..or, maybe a hiking buddy to call my own!
Note: Our trainer suggested that Shadow would be a good candidate for an obedience or agility dog.
Miah is an energetic and playful girl who loves being around people as well as other dogs. Her good friend at the shelter is Shadow. Miah is also an avid hiker and would enjoy a home with an active lifestyle. She is extremely intelligent and is learning basic commands from our volunteers (she’s a fast study!). Therefore, she would benefit from experienced dog owners that will continue her training.

Sparkie is a friendly and spirited girl whose favorite activity is playing! She gets along with most other dogs and would be an excellent addition a home with older kids. She has a high energy level and would need to get a lot of exercise. So, if you can give her lots of playtime to burn off that energy and want to give a special lady a new home…Sparkie’s your gal!

SATO BILLIBON
Billibon’s story: Sweet Billibon has been through a lot in his first few years of life. He survived living on the streets where he was thankfully rescued by a good Samaritan. He was found emaciated and had a severe case of skin mange. Although the mange has cleared long ago, his scars remain. Billibon is a tranquil, easy going guy who makes friends with everyone he meets.He’s looking for a special someone who can look beyond his healed wounds and see the great beauty on the inside.
Billibon lived for 2 years at the Save a Sato shelter- who wants an imperfect looking dog? Well, we are confident that someone here will want him and come for him soon. He has an abundance of love to give to you. Billibon weighs 40# and is 4 years old.
Isabela’s story: Sato Isabela’s story begins on a dark rainy day in Puerto Rico. Alone, scared and shivering, Isabela’s future was bleak. Luckily, a shelter volunteer came upon her and took her to safety.
As she stays with us in search for her first real home, Isabela is a girl ready for the next chapter of life. She is full of adventure and curiosity and will make a great companion. Please come for this pretty girl soon!Isabela is a small female mix who is approx. 35 pounds and 1-1/2 yrs. old.
Sato Jacinta was discovered running along a very busy highway. It was her lucky day when an SAS volunteer spotted her and proceeded to bring traffic to a stop in order to save her life. Pregnant, thin and sick, Jacinta is very fortunate to be alive today.
Today, Jacinta is part love bug and part dog on the go! She brightens when given love and attention and wiggles all over. Eager to run and explore, she yearns for the day she has her first home. Could that home be with you? Jacinta is a very pretty spotted 3 year female mix and she weighs ~40 pounds.
Issy’s story: Sato Issy was rescued when she was attempting to cross a high traffic intersection - a very dangerous situation for such a little girl! With good fortune finally on her side, Issy went to the SAS shelter to start preparing for her next big adventure in life and hoping that it would be filled with fun and happiness.
While she stays with us, Issy is learning to love and enjoy the people around her, but what she needs most is a real home not life behind bars. Come soon and meet this darling, quiet little girl that just might be your new best friend! Issy is a year and a half and weighs 20 pounds. A home without young kids would be best for her.
Mauri’s story: At heart, Sato Mauri is a fun loving, playful guy. His sad beginning started when he was born into a home with too many other dogs and an elderly owner who could not care properly for all the dogs. When the owner passed, the dogs were simply turned loose into the streets. Mauri was rescued as an older puppy and has spent the rest of his days at the San Juan shelter.
Mauri is looking for a future as bright as his smile. He loves to run and play and very much wants to learn new things with you! Won’t you give him a chance at a real home and love? Mauri is about a year old and weighs 30 lbs.
